Independent Expert Advisor (Authorising Engineer)

We fully align with the Independent Expert Advisor (Authorising Engineer) role as set out in HTM 05-01 as follows:

• We have extensive experience of fire safety design, management and systems maintenance in a complex healthcare setting.

• We have experience in an audit and regulatory (enforcement) capacity with a fire authority (fire and rescue service).

• We are member grade level of the following relevant professional bodies; IHEEM, the IFE and are technician level with the Engineering Council. We also hold membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. We work to their professional standards and code of conduct so you can be assured that we can deliver evidence based decisions to drive change that align to your fire risk management strategy and organisations goals.

• We hold the ISO:9001 lead auditor qualification, and BS9997: 2019 Fire risk management systems (Auditor conversion) Lead Auditor Training.

• We have over 5 years sector specific experience of working in a complex healthcare environment and over 25 years working in fire risk reduction management.

We hold the necessary relevant qualifications to support you, including fire risk management, auditing, health and safety and systems thinking to manage change

If you deliver CQC regulated activities we can work with you to provide the following independent professional advice and services to your healthcare organisation;

• Design and development of job description and competency-based person specifications for fire risk management roles. This includes; AP(Fire) roles, business fire safety advisors or trainers.
• Advising and supporting you with the recruitment and selection of Authorised Persons (Fire) candidates using competency-based assessments. This would include ensuring that candidates for appointment have the necessary knowledge, skills, understanding and practical experience to demonstrate competence in providing fire risk management advice.
• Compliance assurance: supporting your journey towards compliance by monitoring and auditing the application of HTM 05-01 or BS9997: 2019 Fire Risk Management Systems, and
• Producing an annual audit to the Designated Person at Board Level (Director with fire safety responsibility).

In providing these services we would remain independent of your organisations management structure.
